About SCTS
What is Scott County Transit System (SCTS)?
SCTS is a community-based public transportation service for residents needing transportation originating from Scott County, Missouri. We provide rides to medical appointments, work, school, shopping, and other personal needs — helping you stay connected to the people and places that matter most.
Who can ride with SCTS?
Everyone! Our services are open to the general public. We also offer discounted fares for senior citizens, veterans and riders with mobility challenges.
Where do you operate?
We serve the entire Scott County area, including Sikeston, Chaffee, Benton, Oran, and surrounding communities. We travel up to a 200-mile radius for trips (i.e., going to East Prairie, Kennett, St. Louis, Matthews, etc.)
What types of trips can I take?
We offer scheduled and demand-response transportation for:
- Medical appointments and hospital visits
- Work or job interviews
- School or educational programs
- Grocery shopping and errands
- Social or recreational activities
Are your vehicles wheelchair-accessible?
Yes. Our fleet includes vehicles equipped with lifts or ramps to accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility devices.

Scheduling a Ride
How do I schedule a ride?
Call our office at least 24 hours in advance to reserve your trip. When calling, please have the following information ready:
- Your name and phone number
- Pick-up and destination addresses
- Appointment or arrival time
- Any mobility needs or special assistance
- Whether you need a return trip
Can I book a same-day ride?
Yes, availability of same-day rides depends on driver availability and scheduling. It’s best to call early to check.
Can I schedule recurring trips (ex: for work or dialysis)?
Yes! We can arrange ongoing reservations for recurring needs.
What if I need to cancel?
Please call us as soon as possible to cancel or change your reservation. Cancellations need to be completed at least one hour before your scheduled pick up. Late cancellations or no-shows may affect future scheduling.
Fares & Payment
How much does a ride cost?
Fares vary depending on your pick-up and drop-off locations. Call our office or visit our website for exact fare information.
Do you offer discounts?
Yes! Senior citizens (age 60+), Veterans and riders with mobility challenges receive discounted fares. We also offer Rider Passes that are for 10 rides or equal transit uses per pass at a discounted rate when purchased under the Rider Pass Program. How can I pay for my ride?
You can pay your driver directly at the time of your ride as well as over the phone with your debit or credit card. Accepted payment methods may vary, so please confirm when scheduling.
Accessibility & Rider Assistance
Do you offer assistance for people with disabilities?
Yes. Our drivers are trained to assist riders with mobility devices and can help secure wheelchairs safely in the vehicle.
Can I bring a caregiver, companion, or service animal?
Absolutely. Personal care attendants and service animals are always welcome. Please let us know at the time of scheduling.
Do you provide door-to-door service?
Most rides are curb-to-curb, but drivers can offer limited assistance as needed. Please mention any mobility challenges when scheduling.
Safety & Service Policies
Are your drivers trained and background checked?
Yes. All SCTS drivers receive background screenings, safety training, and regular vehicle safety checks to ensure a safe, respectful experience for every rider.
What if my ride is late or I miss my return trip?
If your ride hasn’t arrived within 15 minutes of your scheduled time, or your appointment runs late, please call our office. We’ll do our best to adjust your pick-up.
Can children ride?
Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Please bring a child safety seat if required by law.
Do you operate during bad weather?
We do our best to maintain service, but safety always comes first. Weather-related cancellations or delays will be announced on our Facebook page, on our website and a message will be left on the office phone.
